James Douglas is a writer, researcher, and teacher based in Melbourne, Australia.

He completed a PhD in Media and Communications at RMIT University in 2020, with a thesis on the history of Australian film and television production company Kennedy Miller Mitchell. He has ongoing research projects in the field of media industries.

He also writes reviews, features, and analysis on film, culture, technology, and society, for publications like The Guardian, The New Yorker online, The Awl, The Big Issue, Junkee, and The Saturday Paper. Plus web content and technical documents for private clients.

And he is a sessional staff member at RMIT University, teaching into subjects on film theory, cultural studies, and national cinemas.
